EXTREME RISK PROTECTION ORDERS
If you are facing a situation in which a loved one, a family member, or a member of your household demonstrates that they are a significant risk of committing suicide, or harming others, and if this person has firearms, you may wish to seek an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO). If this civil order is approved by a judge, the police or sheriff will require the person served by the order to surrender their firearms. It is important to note that an ERPO specifically addresses firearm possession.
